two to smock::day 5

I did, in fact, take my needle and floss and smock across the front of the white voile baby dress, just as I said I would:

It reminds me, now, of green vines running all across a white fence.  Which means, of course, that it's waiting for some flowers. 

Here's what the front looks like so far:

Although that photo makes the smocking look black, almost.  I assure you, it isn't. 

Next time, the flowers!

Can I ask another silly question... Can you instruct on the actual smocking part? Do you tie knots at each place? Or do you just come up with a pattern and then what? I there a good book or website that you know of that would show the how to?

I like that you sewed most of it first. I smocked a dress front for my daughter that I still have to sew because of my newborn baby. Wish I'd thought to sew it first! Beautiful, and congrats on the new soon to be girl!!
